Yes, as of July 22, 2021, government agencies are able to register for A2P 10DLC.
Government agencies have access to all Standard Campaign use cases today, and will also be eligible for the use case for Emergency Services, once the ecosystem has launched full support for Special Use Cases.
Government entities are also eligible for higher messaging throughput, regardless of their A2P Campaign use case. This will entail higher MPS, and you will be eligible for unlimited daily messages toward T-Mobile. (See here for details on T-Mobile's standard daily limits.) Full details of these added benefits for government entities are still forthcoming.
To successfully register as a government entity and access these benefits:
- When registering your Primary Business Profile (first step of A2P registration), select "Non-profit Corporation" as your Business Type, and select "Government" as your Business Industry.
- When registering your A2P Brand, be sure to select "Government" as your Company Type.
This information is also captured in our onboarding guide for government entities.
If you are a government agency (or you are an ISV with government clients) you may begin registration today. If you will be sending emergency-related alerts, we recommend you go ahead and register your A2P Profile and Brand now, but wait for further guidance before registering your Campaign.
