Resolving Delays for Initial Segment Data Syncs to Snowflake

Issue

After setting up a new sync from a Segment source to a Snowflake warehouse destination, no data appears in the warehouse for an extended period. Users may be concerned that the sync is not working as expected.

Product

Segment Storage Destinations

Environment

Segment Console

Cause

For first-time syncs to a Snowflake warehouse, it is normal for data to take up to 24–48 hours to appear. The initial sync may require additional time to process and transfer data, especially if there is a large volume of historical data.

Resolution

  • Allow up to 48 hours for the initial sync to complete and for data to appear in the Snowflake warehouse.
  • After the first sync, data will continue to sync automatically, depending on your plan.
  • If no data appears after 48 hours, verify that data is flowing into Segment from your source and that the warehouse destination is configured correctly.
  • If the issue persists beyond 48 hours, contact support for further investigation.
