Enable Google Ads Keyword & Search Performance Reports

Objective

This internal guide explains how to enable the keywords_performance_report and search_performance_report collections for a customer's Google Ads source. Customers frequently request these collections to access keyword-level and search-term-level cost and click data for their internal spend reporting. Because these specific collections must be enabled by contacting Support, use this procedure whenever a customer submits a ticket requesting them.

Segment : Retool Prod - All Apps Write

Procedure

  1. Retrieve the specific Source ID for the customer's Google Ads source from their workspace.
  2. Open the internal Object Cloud Sources Update Tool.
  3. To enable the Keywords Performance Report, go to the Update section, enter the customer's Source ID, set the Name parameter exactly to sync-keywords, and set the Value to true.
  4. Run the command to apply the changes.
  5. To enable the Search Query Performance Report, enter the customer's Source ID, set the Name parameter exactly to sync-search-query-performance, and set the Value to true. (Note: Be sure to use this exact parameter name to avoid an invalid_request error).
  6. Run the command to apply the changes.
  7. Verify the output confirms both settings are applied to the source options.

Additional Information

  • For both the Ad Performance Report and the Search Performance Report, Segment automatically pulls 7 days of historical data.
  • Object Cloud Sources sync with Segment every 3 hours by default, so the customer will begin seeing data populate during the next automated interval.
