Why Is Event Throughput to Braze Lower Than Maximum Limits?

Question

How does Segment batch events when sending data to Braze, and why might the number of events sent per minute be lower than Braze’s maximum supported rate?

Product

Segment

Environment

 Segment Console

Answer

When batching is enabled, Segment groups events into API requests, with each request containing up to 75 events the maximum batch size accepted by Braze. The throughput shown in the Segment Console reflects the total number of events sent per minute, not the number of API requests. This batching behavior, along with default concurrency settings, can result in a lower event throughput than Braze’s maximum supported rate.
