What Are Unnamed or Batched Events in Segment?

Question

What does “unnamed or batched events” mean in Segment, and which event types does this include?

Product

Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

In Segment, “unnamed or batched events” refers to Identify, Page, and Screen event types. These events do not have a specific event name because they are designed to update user state or record a page/screen view, rather than track a custom action. Only Track events require a unique event name. In the Segment UI, the “Unnamed or batched events” metric groups all Identify and Page/Screen events together for reporting purposes.

Additional Information

If you need to locate these events in your warehouse, look for records where the event type is identifypage, or screen.
