Facebook Ads API Error: Unsupported Get Request or Missing Object

Issue

When using the Segment Facebook Ads source, users may encounter the error: "Facebook Ads API returned the following error: Unsupported get request. Object with ID '[object ID]' does not exist, cannot be loaded due to missing permissions, or does not support this operation." This prevents data from syncing as expected.

Product

Segment

Environment

 Segment Console

Cause

This error occurs when the Facebook Ads API cannot access the specified object. Common reasons include the object being deleted or archived, the user who authorized the connection losing access, changes or revocation of app permissions, or the object being unsupported by the API.

Resolution

  1. Log in to Facebook Ads Manager and verify if the object with the specified ID exists and is accessible.
  2. Ensure the Facebook user who authorized the Segment source has full access to the ad account and all relevant objects.
  3. If permissions have changed, re-authenticate the Facebook Ads source in Segment with a user who has the necessary access.
  4. Review the Segment source settings for any prompts to re-authorize or update credentials.
  5. If the object is missing or deleted, update your Facebook Ads account to remove references to it.
