How Does Blocking Events in a Source Schema Affect MTU and API Usage Metrics?

Question

Does blocking events within the Segment Source Schema exclude those events from API and Monthly Tracked User (MTU) calculations?

Product

Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

Yes, blocking events within the Source Schema or Tracking Plan excludes those events from API and MTU calculations. Blocked events are discarded before they reach the Segment processing pipeline, so they do not generate API calls or count toward MTU usage.

Additional Information

If a previously blocked event is later replayed or unblocked, it will be processed as a new event and may count toward MTU and API usage for the current billing period.
