How Do Mobile Libraries Store Events Offline, and What Are the Storage Limitations?

Question

How do Segment mobile libraries handle storing events when a device is offline, and what are the limitations?

Answer

Segment mobile libraries automatically save events to disk when a device is offline. These events are retained until the device reconnects and the events are sent. There is no time-based expiration events are not removed due to age. However, there is a storage limit: only the most recent 1,000 events are kept. If more than 1,000 events are generated while offline, the oldest events are removed to make room for new ones. This ensures that the most recent activity is preserved and sent once connectivity is restored.
