Device-Mode Destination Filters Not Modifying or Blocking Events in the Console

Issue

Destination Filters configured for device-mode destinations in the Segment Console are not blocking or modifying events as expected. Events continue to be processed even though filters are enabled in the UI.

Cause

Destination Filters for device-mode destinations require the "Destination Filters" feature to be enabled for the Analytics.js source. If this feature is not enabled, filters set in the UI will not be applied to device-mode events.

 

Resolution

To enforce Destination Filters for device-mode destinations:

  1. Navigate to your Analytics.js source in the Segment Console.
  2. Go to Settings > Analytics.js.
  3. Enable the "Destination Filters" toggle.
  4. After enabling, filters will be applied to device-mode events as configured.
