What Happens When Exceeding Segment HTTP API Batch Call Limits?

Question

What is the maximum number of concurrent calls allowed to the Segment HTTP API batch endpoint, and what happens if this limit is exceeded?

Product

Segment, HTTP API Source

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

The Segment HTTP API batch endpoint recommends a maximum of 1,000 requests per second per workspace. If this rate is exceeded, Segment may queue or reject requests with an HTTP 429 error. To avoid disruptions, monitor your request rate and implement retry logic using the Retry-After header provided in the response.

Additional Information

For more details on request rates, payloads, and endpoint behaviors, refer to the Segment developer documentation on HTTP API Rate Limits.
