Resolve Segment Source Transfer SSO Connection Error

Issue

When attempting to transfer a source between Segment workspaces in the Segment Console, you may encounter an SSO connection error that prevents the source transfer process from being successfully completed.

Product

Twilio Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Cause

Source transfers between workspaces require an active user session that is valid in both the origin and target workspaces. Because Single Sign-On (SSO) sessions are restricted to a single workspace, attempting a cross-workspace transfer while authenticated via SSO triggers a connection error.

Resolution

To successfully transfer a source between workspaces, you must bypass the SSO constraint using one of the following methods:
  • Temporarily disable SSO in both workspaces before initiating the transfer.
  • Set up SSO exemptions in both workspaces for the user profile performing the transfer, allowing login without SSO for this operation.

Additional Information

  • SSO session limitations are a known security restriction for cross-workspace operations in Segment.
  • Before attempting either resolution, ensure that the user account performing the transfer has Workspace Owner permissions configured in both the origin and destination workspaces.
