Why Segment Workspaces Receive Functions Usage Alerts

Question

Why did my Segment workspace receive a proactive alert for functions usage, and are function hours allocations combined across multiple workspaces on a single order form?

Product

Twilio Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

You received this proactive alert because your workspace's function usage crossed a specific threshold (such as 75%) for the current billing period. This is an informational notification to assist with tracking, and no immediate action is required from you.

Function hours usage allocations are applied per individual workspace. They are not combined or automatically pooled across multiple workspaces, even if those workspaces are covered under a single contract or order form.

If you have not received this warning in previous months despite having consistent usage, it is typically the result of a recent account status update or a manual correction to your workspace's allocated function hours. When an allocation limit is updated or corrected mid-billing cycle, the system automatically evaluates your cumulative usage against the newly updated limit. If your current usage is already past the threshold of the updated allocation, a proactive alert is triggered.

Additional Information

  • You can monitor your real-time consumption and review your exact limits directly within your workspace's usage and billing dashboard.
  • Please reach out to support if you need assistance reallocating function hours between workspaces.
