Understanding Linked Events Usage Limits in Segment

Question

How does Segment calculate Linked Events usage, and does the count reset monthly or accumulate over time? What triggers an overage in the Linked Events usage page?

Product

Twilio Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

Linked Events usage in Segment is calculated as a persistent, cumulative count of all rows currently synced to your workspace. The count does not reset at the beginning of each month. Instead, it reflects the total number of Linked Events that remain synced, regardless of when they were added. An overage is triggered when the cumulative count exceeds the plan limit. To reduce usage, you can delete unused entities, which will remove their associated rows from the count.

Additional Information

Linked Events are not subject to monthly resets like MTUs or API calls. The usage page displays the current total, and overages occur when this total surpasses the allowed threshold for your plan.
