Do Events Blocked by Protocols Count Toward My MTU Usage?

Question

If I’m using Protocols to block or omit traits from events in Twilio Segment, do those blocked or omitted traits/properties still count toward my MTU (Monthly Tracked Users)?

Product

Twilio Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

Only blocked events are forwarded to the source, and count toward your MTU limits. Events with omitted traits are not forwarded, and do not contribute to your MTU counts. Instead, Segment inserts a context.protocols object into the event payload which contains the omitted properties or traits.
