Can I Block Events That Are Forwarded From Another Source Using Schema Controls?

Question

Can I use Source schema controls in Segment to block events that are forwarded into my source from another Segment source?

Product

Twilio Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

No. Schema controls can only block events at the moment they are ingested into Segment. When an event is forwarded from one Segment source to another, it bypasses the ingestion pipeline where blocking occurs. Because of this, forwarded events cannot be blocked a second time using schema controls.
