Why does the segment_source_name property appear in every event sent to our Mixpanel destination?

Question

Why does the segment_source_name property appear in every event sent to our Mixpanel destination?

Product

Twilio Segment

Environment

Segment Console

Answer

The segment_source_name property is being sent to Mixpanel because the "Source Name" field in your Mixpanel destination settings is populated. Whatever value is set there will automatically be included as segment_source_name in every event, page, and screen call. If this field isn’t blank, Segment will always send it through.
