Why was I charged a fee for my phone numbers despite canceling the port?

If you were charged a fee for your phone numbers despite canceling the port, it is likely due to the timing of your cancellation. Here's how the process works:

  1. Billing Cycle Initiation:
    • The billing cycle for phone numbers begins as soon as a port date is scheduled. This typically occurs about 7 days before the number is expected to port to Twilio.
  1. Cancellation Timing:
    • If you attempt to cancel the port after the port date has been scheduled, you may still be charged for one month of service. This is because the billing cycle has already commenced.
  1. Avoiding Fees:
    • To avoid potential fees, it is advisable to submit cancellation requests as soon as possible after the initial port request. Once the port date is scheduled, it becomes more challenging to cancel without incurring charges.
  1. Cancellation Process:
    • To cancel a port, respond to the email you received regarding your port request or send a new email to porting@twilio.com , clearly indicating which porting phone numbers you wish to cancel.

By understanding these steps, you can better manage the timing of your port cancellations to avoid unnecessary charges.
