What is a RespOrg?

A RespOrg, or Responsible Organization, is an entity responsible for managing and maintaining toll-free numbers. When you port a toll-free number, the first step is to change the RespOrg ownership from one carrier to another. Only the current RespOrg carrier has the authority to change or release a number from a RespOrg.

To port your toll-free number to Twilio, you need to provide a Letter of Authorization signed by the authorized user on the account, including service address information that matches what your carrier has on file. Twilio will then work with your current carrier to change the RespOrg on your number to Twilio's. Once the RespOrg is released to Twilio, we collaborate with carriers to reconfigure the number for new network routing before completing the final porting process.
