Twilio WhatsApp Self Sign-Up, or "Embedded Sign-Up", provides you with a faster way to get up and running with WhatsApp with certain restrictions until the Meta Business Manager account is verified by Meta. This process is self-service, and you can get started from the Twilio Console.

Can I use Self Sign-Up to sign-up for WhatsApp today?
Yes, Self Sign-Up is live for all customers and you can start via the Console without having to request access to WhatsApp first.
Can I use Self Sign-Up if I’m an ISV?
ISVs can onboard themselves on Self Sign-Up, however for their end clients they need to integrate to the Tech Provider Program. See here for more information.

Can I bring my own number?
Yes! Bring your own number is supported in Self Sign-Up.
How Do I Receive the Verification Code on Voice-Only Number?
If you’re using a Twilio phone number that only has Voice capabilities, you may still register it as a WhatsApp sender, as long as you can receive the pin code sent by WhatsApp. The Twilio documentation covers how to manage OTP verification for all number types.
I'm Not Receiving the SMS Verification Message
If you are not receiving the verification message, make sure that inbound SMS is enabled if using a Twilio Number. Alternatively, please try verifying the number using voice as described in the documentation. If you continue to have issues, please reach out to Twilio support for further troubleshooting.
What Happens if I do not complete Meta business verification?
You will be limited to two WhatsApp senders, and each sender will be limited to starting 50 business-initiated conversations within a rolling 24-hour period. If you exceed the messaging limit, you will receive the error 63018 and your messages will not be delivered.
You also must be verified before you can apply for an Official Business Account (OBA) status (green checkmark).
