Why Call and SMS Usage Logs Display a Cost of "TBD"

Question

Why do call and SMS usage logs display a cost of "TBD" (To Be Determined)?

Product

  • Programmable Voice
  • Programmable Messaging

Environment

  • Twilio Console

Answer

Calls and SMS messages may show a cost of "TBD" when an account has recently upgraded and is utilizing PUFU (Post-Upgrade Free Units).

When an account transitions from trial status to a newly upgraded plan, eligible promotional usage units are applied to offset development costs. During this initial promotional allocation period, usage is logged and tracked normally, but individual call and message transactions will display a cost of "TBD".

To view your remaining Post-Upgrade Free Units:

  1. In the top-right corner of the Twilio Console, click the Available Balance dropdown menu.
  2. Review the summary breakdown of your available free units across Voice, Messaging, Email, and WhatsApp.
  3. Click See all free units to view full balances, expiration details, or other promotional unit categories.
