How do I view the content of a message in an operation?

Objective

This article helps you read what was actually sent to a recipient in a message operation, including long message bodies and messages that carried media, so you can confirm the content was correct.

Product

Communication APIs

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Open the Communication APIs Operations page.
  3. On the Messages tab, select the operation you want.
  4. In the Communication messages table, find the message you want and select the icon in its Body column.
  5. For a text-only message, a preview of the message text appears. If the text is longer than the preview, select View full content to open the complete Message Content panel.
  6. For a message that includes media, or one with no text, the Message Content panel opens directly and shows the message body along with its media.
  7. Select Close side modal when you are finished.

Additional Information

  • The preview shows the first 200 characters of the message text, followed by an ellipsis when there is more.
  • The Message Content panel is organised by channel, so an SMS, RCS, or WhatsApp message each displays its channel-specific content.
  • If the content cannot be retrieved, the panel shows Content not available and explains that the message content could not be loaded or does not exist.
  • Content types that are not yet supported are reported as such rather than rendered.
