Objective
This article shows you where Messaging Insights reports on shortened links — how many messages carried one, how many links were clicked, and the resulting click-through rate — so you can measure how much engagement your messages generate.
Product
Programmable Messaging
Environment
Twilio Console
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
- Select Messaging, then Insights.
- Select the Engagement tab.
- Scroll to the Engagement Suite section and select Link shortening and click tracking.
- Review the three metric cards:
- Link shortening enabled — the volume of messages that had a shortened link attached, with that volume as a share of your total messages.
- Links resolved — successful link clicks that reached the destination URL.
- CTR — the click-through rate for those messages.
- Below the cards, review the Messages with Shortened links figure and the Click through rate over time chart to see how engagement moved across the selected date range.
- Select Link shortening docs for the full guide to setting link shortening up on a Messaging Service.
Additional Information
- CTR shows N/A when no links were clicked in the window, because there is no rate to calculate.
- The figures follow the date range and the other filters at the top of the page.
- If your account has no link shortening data for the window, the chart shows No Results Found. If the data cannot be loaded, the card shows Something went wrong while the rest of the tab keeps rendering.
- Link shortening and click tracking is an add-on. If it is not enabled on your account, the section shows Unlock Link Shortening and Click tracking with a Learn how to use Link Shortening link instead of the metrics.
- The Scheduling view in the same Engagement Suite section covers scheduled messages — see "How do I see how many messages are scheduled?".
