How do I add a payment method?

Objective

This article explains how to save a card or PayPal account to your Twilio billing group so it can be used for payments, top-ups, and auto-recharge.

Product

Twilio Billing

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

You need permission to create, update, and delete payment methods. Without it, the Add payment method action and the row-level actions are hidden.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Billing in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Billing. The overview for your billing group opens.
  3. In the billing group's navigation, select Settings, then Payment methods.
  4. Select Add payment method. If no payment methods are saved yet, select Add payment method in the "No payment methods yet" empty state.
  5. Enter the payment details in the panel.
  6. Select Save payment method.
  7. A confirmation message reads "Payment method added." and the new method appears in the table.

Additional Information

  • The table lists each method with its Payment method name, Expiration date, Cardholder name, and Billing address.
  • Badges on a row show when a method is Expired, or is being used as the Primary auto-recharge or Backup auto-recharge method.
  • Some invoiced billing groups must pay by wire or ACH. In that case cards cannot be added and the page explains "Payment must be made by wire/ACH. Please download your latest invoice in your bill history for payment instructions.", with a View bill history action.
