Objective
This article shows you how to send your first email from the Twilio Console using the Email tryout panel, so you can confirm that email sending works on your account before you authenticate your own domain.
Product
Twilio Email
Environment
Twilio Console
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Home in the left sidebar.
- Select the Email product tab on your account home.
- Select Try out Email. The Try out Email panel opens with the tabs Send an email and Logs, and shows how many free emails you have left.
- The Send an email tab is selected by default. Check that To shows the verified email address you want to send to. On a trial account this is read-only and is set to your own verified address.
- Review From email name and From email domain. On a trial account these are pre-filled with a Twilio owned sending domain.
- Select a message from the Template list — for example Order Confirmation.
- Select Send email.
- An Email sent confirmation appears, and the email arrives in the recipient's inbox. It also appears on the Logs tab.
Additional Information
- On a trial account you can only send preset templates, and only to your own verified email address.
- After you upgrade and authenticate a domain, the same panel lets you enter one or more recipients in To (separated by commas), pick your authenticated domain in From domain, and write your own Subject and Body.
- When your free emails run out, the panel shows You've used all your free emails with an Upgrade link and a notification telling you to upgrade to get back to sending. Selecting Send email has no effect until you upgrade.
- If the send fails, a Failed to send email notification appears.
- Email has no inbound tab in the tryout panel. To receive and process email, configure it under Communications › Email › Settings.
- To send from your own domain, complete the Authenticate your domain step described in "How do I complete the Email setup guide?".
