Objective
This article explains how to top up your Twilio balance with a saved payment method, or make a payment against an invoice, so your services keep running without interruption.
Product
Twilio Billing
Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
You need permission to create payment methods and apply payments. If your role does not include it, the Add more funds and Make payment actions are not shown.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Billing in the left sidebar.
- Select Billing. The Overview page for your billing group opens.
- On the balance card, select Add more funds (on an invoiced billing group, select Make payment).
- Keep the Use payment method tab selected.
- Enter the amount in Fund amount. The help text states the minimum and maximum you can pay.
- Review the balance summary showing how the payment, including any tax, affects your balance.
- Choose an existing card in Payment method, or add a new one from the same field.
- Select Add to balance (or Make payment on an invoiced billing group).
Additional Information
- The amount must fall within the stated range for your billing group. Invoiced billing groups only have a minimum.
- Where tax applies, the balance summary shows the tax amount separately from the funds added.
- If the payment cannot be completed, a message reads "Funds could not be added to your balance. Please try again." or, for an invoiced billing group, "Payment could not be made. Please try again."
- Some invoiced billing groups must pay by wire or ACH. In that case card payment is not offered and the page explains "Payment must be made by wire/ACH. Please download your latest invoice for payment instructions."
- To top up automatically instead of manually, see "How do I set up auto-recharge for my Twilio balance?".
- To apply a promo code rather than a payment, see "How do I redeem a promo code?".
