How do I cancel a subscription?

Objective

This article explains how to schedule the cancellation of a Twilio product subscription, so it ends at the close of the current billing period rather than renewing.

Product

Twilio Billing

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

You need permission to view billing for the organization. Without it, the billing pages show "Access is required" and the guidance to contact your organization administrator for access.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Billing in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Billing. The overview for your billing group opens.
  3. In the billing group's navigation, select Subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  4. Open the subscription you want to end by selecting its row, or by selecting Manage subscription on its card.
  5. Choose the cancellation action for the plan.
  6. Read the Cancel Plan? dialog. It names the product and plan and states the date the plan will end — the last day of the current period.
  7. Select Cancel plan to confirm, or Go back to keep the subscription.
  8. A confirmation message states that the product and plan are scheduled for cancellation, and the subscription now shows an Ending badge.

Additional Information

  • Cancellation is scheduled, not immediate. You keep access until the last day of the current billing period.
  • If the cancellation cannot be scheduled, the message states so and advises trying again later, or contacting customer support if the problem persists.
