How do I download a messaging log archive file?

Objective

This article shows you how to find a generated messaging log archive file and get a download link for it, so you can retrieve the JSON records for a particular day.

Product

Programmable Messaging

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Messaging, then Log Archives.
  3. Select the Past Files tab. Each row shows the file's Friendly name, Date, Type, and Size.
  4. Find the file you want and select Generate link in the Actions column.
  5. The Generate link dialog opens with the download link in the Link field. Then either:
  6. Select Download to open the file, or
  7. Select Copy to copy the link to your clipboard. A confirmation message tells you the bulk export file URL was copied.

Additional Information

  • Download links are generated fresh each time and eventually expire, so generate a new link rather than reusing an old one.
  • Archive files are automatically removed after seven days. If a day is not listed, either no export job has produced a file for it yet or the file has already expired.
  • If the table is empty, no bulk export jobs have been created for this account. Create one with Create custom job, or set up recurring archives with Setup daily exports.
  • The Custom Jobs tab shows the status of export jobs you have requested, which is where to look if a file has not appeared yet.
