Objective
This article shows you how to search and filter your Twilio Email logs so you can confirm whether a particular message was delivered, and see the provider response when it was not.
Product
Twilio Email
Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
You need a role with permission to read email logs. Without it, Logs does not appear under Email in the sidebar.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
- Select Email, then Logs.
- To look up a message by who received it, type the address into the search box labelled Recipient email address.
- To narrow the results further, select Add filters and choose the filters you need, then set a value for each and apply it:
- Date Range — filter by processed date, with presets such as Last 3 Days and Last 7 Days, or a Custom Range.
- Timezone — choose the time zone used to display date and time values.
- Subject, Response, From Email, and Outbound IP — match on the start of the value.
- Message ID and API Key ID — match the value exactly.
- Status — select one or more delivery statuses.
- Category and Event — pick from the categories and event types recorded on your messages.
- Read the results table. Each row shows Message ID / Processed, Recipient email, Subject line, Status, and Response.
- Select the message ID in a row to open that email's full delivery history.
Additional Information
- Status is shown as a badge so problem messages stand out: delivered messages appear as successful, while blocked, bounced, and dropped messages appear as errors, and deferred or processed messages appear as still in progress.
- Response splits the provider reply into its response code and the accompanying message.
- Email logs are also reachable from Monitor, under Logs, by selecting Email.
- Email logs are available on upgraded accounts. On a trial account, you are directed to upgrade instead; use the Try out Email experience on the Email overview page to check test sends in the meantime.
