How do I review email address validation results?

Objective

This article shows you how to review the results of your email address validation requests in the Twilio Console, so you can see which addresses were judged valid, invalid, or risky before you send to them, and understand why.

Product

Twilio Email

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Email, then Validation.
  3. Read the Validation Results Over Time chart at the top of the page to see how Valid, Invalid, and Risky results trend. Use the series controls to show or hide a result type.
  4. Read the results table below, which lists Email, Result, Source, IP, and Score for each validation request. Select a column header to sort by it.
  5. To narrow the results, select Add filters and apply the filters you need, then select Apply:
    • Date Range — filter by validation date, with presets for the last day, 7 days, or 30 days.
    • Result — show only Valid, Invalid, or Risky results.
    • Source — show only requests from a given source, such as API, UI, Signup, Newsletter, or Hosted Contact Form.
  6. Select Clear in a filter to remove it and return to the full list.
  7. Use Next and Previous below the table to page through the results.
  8. Select an address in the table to open Validation details and see the individual checks behind the result.

Additional Information

  • Score is shown as a percentage that expresses how confident the result is.
  • The details panel breaks the verdict down into domain checks (valid address syntax, MX or A record present, check for disposable address), local part checks (check for role address), and additional checks (no history of bounces, likelihood to bounce), along with the Result, Score, Reason, Date, Source, and IP for the request.
  • All times on this page are shown in UTC.
