Your user needs the content templates create permission for the account. Without it, Duplicate template is disabled.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
- Select Messaging, then Templates.
- Find the template you want to copy in the Messaging Templates list.
- Select Open menu on that row, then select Duplicate template. You can also open the template and select Duplicate.
- Confirm by selecting Duplicate in the dialog.
- The copy opens ready to edit, with the name prefilled as the original name prefixed with
copy_of_. - Adjust the Template name, language, and content as needed.
- Select Save.
Additional Information
- Duplicating is the recommended path when a template has been rejected by WhatsApp, or has already been submitted and can therefore no longer be edited.
- Duplicate template is unavailable for content types that the Content Template Builder does not support in the console. Those templates can still be read through the Content API using their template SID.
- The copy is a brand new template with its own template SID, and it starts out unsubmitted.
