User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your user needs the content templates create permission for the account. Without it, Edit template is disabled.

 

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Messaging, then Templates.
  3. Find the template in the Messaging Templates list.
  4. Select Open menu on that row, then select Edit template. You can also open the template and select Edit.
  5. Change the Template name in the General info section if you want to rename it.
  6. On the Details tab, update the content fields for the template's content type. The preview panel updates as you type.
  7. Select Save.
  8. The template reopens on its details page with your changes applied.

 

Additional Information

  • Edit template is only available while the template has not been submitted for WhatsApp approval. Once a template is submitted, the option is disabled, duplicate the template instead and edit the copy.
  • Template language cannot be changed when editing an existing template.
  • The template name still has to be lowercase alphanumeric characters and underscores only, up to 450 characters.
  • If the template contains variables, saving asks you to confirm a sample value for each one.
  • To save your edits and send the template to WhatsApp at the same time, select Save and submit for WhatsApp approval.
