How do I change when a Sync List expires?

Objective

This article helps you set or clear the expiry on a Sync List, so the List and all of its items are either deleted after a period you choose or kept indefinitely.

Product

Twilio Sync

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your user role must allow reading Twilio Sync Services to open the List, and updating them to save the change.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Builder tools in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Sync, then Services.
  3. In the Name column, select the Service that holds the List.
  4. Select the Lists tab, then select the List's SID to open it.
  5. Select Edit time to live.
  6. In Time to live, enter how long in seconds before the List expires and is deleted. Enter 0 to keep it indefinitely.
  7. Select Save. The console confirms with "Sync List updated." and the Date expires property reflects the new value.

Additional Information

  • Time to live must be a whole number of seconds between 0 and 31536000 (one year). A value outside that range is reported as "Input should be between 0 and 31536000 seconds".
  • The countdown restarts from the moment you save, not from when the List was created.
  • A List with a time to live of 0 shows Never for Date expires.
  • Time to live is the only property of a Sync List you can change after it is created, the unique name is fixed at creation time, and the List itself holds no data of its own.
  • When the List expires, all of its items are deleted with it.
