How do I open a Functions service in the code editor?

Objective

This article shows you how to find one of your Functions services and open it in the editor, where you can work on its code, environment variables, and dependencies in one place.

Product

Twilio Functions and Assets

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Builder tools in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Functions & Assets, then Services.
  3. In the Services table, select the name of the service you want to work on.
  4. The editor opens with the service name as the title and a label showing the region the service runs in.
  5. Use the tabs to move between the parts of the service: Code, Environment variables, and Dependencies.
  6. On the Code tab, select Add and choose Add Function or Add Asset to create a new item, and use the Functions and Assets sections in the side panel to move between the items already in the service.
  7. Expand Logs at the bottom of the editor to follow output as you edit, deploy, and run functions.
  8. Close the editor to return to the Services list.

Additional Information

  • The button beside the tabs shows the service's domain, which is the base address your deployed functions and assets are served from.
  • If the service runs on a Node.js version that is being retired, a warning appears above the tabs with a View upgrade guide link.
  • You can also reach your services from Builder tools › Functions & Assets › Overview, which links through to manage your services.
