How do I edit an origination target?

Objective

This article shows you how to change an existing origination target on an origination connection policy — its SIP URI, its priority and weight, or whether it is enabled.

Product

Programmable Voice

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your role must include permission to update origination targets on connection policies. Without it, the Edit action is not available in the target's row menu.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Voice, then Bring your own carrier.
  3. Select the Origination connection policies tab, then select the policy that holds the target.
  4. In the targets table, open the Actions menu on the target's row and select Edit.
  5. In the Edit Origination Target dialog, the fields are pre-filled with the target's current values. Update any of:
    • Origination SIP URI — must use a sip: or sips: scheme.
    • Priority — an integer from 0 to 65535; the lowest number is the most important.
    • Weight — an integer from 1 to 65535; higher values take more load among targets of equal priority.
    • Enable or Disable — whether Twilio routes calls to this target.
  6. Select Save.
  7. An Origination target updated confirmation appears and the table shows the new values.

Additional Information

  • If the URI does not start with sip: or sips:, the dialog shows SIP URI must start with "sip:" or "sips:". and does not save.
  • The origination SIP URI is required. Saving with it empty returns focus to the field instead of applying the change.
  • Select Cancel to close the dialog without saving; the target keeps its previous values.
