How do I enable a calling destination in Voice geo permissions?

Objective

This article helps you turn outbound calling on or off for a continent, country, or number range, so your account can reach the destinations you need while keeping the rest closed to reduce toll-fraud exposure.

Product

Programmable Voice

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Read access to account settings, billing usage, and Voice geo permissions is required to open the page. Update access to Voice geo permissions is required to change a destination — without it the toggles are read-only.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Voice, then Settings.
  3. Select the Geo permissions tab, then choose either the Low risk or High risk tab depending on where the destination you want sits.
  4. Find the destination. Use the Search box, or expand a continent row to see its countries — and, on the High risk tab, expand a country to see its prefix groups.
  5. Switch the Enable continent toggle on a continent row to turn on every destination beneath it, or use the toggle in the Enable destination column on an individual country or prefix-group row.
  6. A confirmation message reads "Geo Permissions settings have been updated successfully."

Additional Information

  • There is no separate Save step — each toggle is saved as soon as you change it.
  • Enabling a destination applies to both Programmable Voice and Elastic SIP Trunking outbound calls, and to all Twilio Regions.
  • Your selections persist when you switch between the Low risk and High risk tabs and when you return to the page later.
  • Twilio recommends enabling only the destinations you actually need to call, especially on the High risk tab.
  • For a subaccount that inherits geo permissions from its parent account, these toggles are unavailable.
