Objective
This article explains how to add a public key from the Voice Recordings settings page so that it is available to select when you turn on recording encryption, without leaving the page you are configuring.
Product
Programmable Voice
Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
Your user role must allow reading and updating Voice recordings and Voice settings.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
- Select Voice, then Recordings.
- Stay on the Settings tab and find the Voice Recording encryption section.
- Under Recording encryption, select Enable. The public key fields appear.
- Select Create new public key. A dialog opens.
- Enter a Friendly name and paste your key into the Public key field.
- Select Create.
- A confirmation appears reading "Public key created" and the dialog closes.
- Open the Select a public key list. Your new key is available for selection.
Additional Information
- Both fields are required. Submitting the dialog empty shows "Friendly name is required" and "Public key is required", and the dialog stays open.
- Selecting Cancel closes the dialog without creating a key.
- Creating the key does not by itself enable encryption. You still need to select it and select Save.
- If the key cannot be created, a message reading "Failed to create public key" appears with "There was an error creating the public key. Please try again."
- Keys created this way are also listed under Voice › Settings › Voice credentials › Public keys.
