How do I rename a BYOC trunk?

Objective

This article shows you how to change the friendly name of a Bring your own carrier (BYOC) trunk so it is easier to identify in lists and reports.

Product

Programmable Voice

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your role must include permission to update BYOC trunks. Without it, the Rename action is not shown on the trunk's detail page.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Voice, then Bring your own carrier.
  3. On the Trunks tab, select the trunk you want to rename.
  4. In the Properties section, select Rename.
  5. In the Rename BYOC Trunk dialog, the Trunk Friendly name field is pre-filled with the current name. Replace it with the new name.
  6. Select Save.
  7. A BYOC Trunk Renamed confirmation appears and the detail page shows the new name.

Additional Information

  • A friendly name is required. Clearing the field and saving keeps the dialog open and shows the validation error instead of applying the change.
  • Select Cancel to close the dialog without renaming the trunk.
  • Renaming does not change the trunk's SID, so existing integrations that reference the SID keep working.
