How do I set the origination connection policy for a BYOC trunk?

Objective

This article shows you how to point a Bring your own carrier (BYOC) trunk at an origination connection policy, which is what Twilio uses to route incoming traffic to your PSTN carrier.

Product

Programmable Voice

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your role must include permission to update BYOC trunks. The Create new origination connection policy shortcut inside the dialog appears only if your role also includes permission to create connection policies.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Voice, then Bring your own carrier.
  3. On the Trunks tab, select the trunk you want to configure.
  4. In the Origination connection policy (to your carrier) section, select Edit origination policy.
  5. In the Edit origination connection policy dialog, choose a policy in the Destination field. You can type to filter the list.
  6. Select Save. The section now shows the policy under Destination.

Additional Information

  • To detach the trunk from any policy, choose -- None -- in the Destination field and save.
  • Don't have a policy yet? Select Create new origination connection policy in the dialog to open the Create Origination Connection Policy wizard, then return to the trunk and select the new policy.
  • The policy itself holds the origination targets — the IP addresses or FQDNs of the entry point into your infrastructure. Add those on the policy's own detail page.
  • Select Cancel to close the dialog without changing the trunk.
