Objective
This article shows you how to change an Elastic SIP Trunk's name and its call-level behaviour — secure trunking, CNAM lookup, symmetric RTP, PRACK, call transfer and call recording.
Product
Elastic SIP Trunking
Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
Your role must include permission to read SIP trunks to open the page, and permission to update SIP trunks to save changes.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
- Select Elastic SIP Trunking.
- On the SIP trunks tab, select the trunk you want to configure, then open the General tab.
- Under Properties, review the read-only Trunk SID (which you can copy) and edit the Friendly name, a descriptive name up to 64 characters.
- Under Secure trunking, set:
- Secure trunking: Enabled or Disabled. When enabled, TLS encrypts SIP signaling and SRTP encrypts media; non-encrypted calls are rejected.
- CNAM lookup: select Enable Caller ID Name (CNAM) lookup.
- Symmetric RTP: select Enable symmetric RTP.
- PRACK (100rel): select Enable reliable provisional responses (100rel).
- Under Call transfer (SIP REFER), set:
- Call transfer: Disabled, Enable for all, or SIP only. This controls whether active calls can be transferred via SIP REFER.
- Caller ID for transfer target: From transferee or From transferor.
- Under Call recording, set:
- Recording mode: Do not record, Record from ringing, Record from answer, Dual record from ringing, or Dual record from answer.
- Recording trim: Do not trim or Trim silence.
- Select Save changes. A SIP trunk updated. confirmation appears.
Additional Information
- The friendly name is required and limited to 64 characters.
- Secure trunking applies to both directions of the trunk; there is a single control rather than separate origination and termination settings.
- Delete trunk on this tab removes the trunk entirely.
- Select Cancel to leave the page without saving and return to the trunks list.
