How do I rename a TwiML App?

Objective

This article helps you change the friendly name of an existing TwiML App, so the app is easier to identify in your list and when you assign it to phone numbers.

Product

Programmable Voice

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your user needs permission to read TwiML Apps on the account to reach the app. Without it, the console shows an access-required message.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Builder tools in the left sidebar.
  2. Select TwiML host & config, then TwiML apps.
  3. Select the app you want to rename.
  4. Select Rename in the page header.
  5. In the Rename friendly name dialog, edit the TwiML app friendly name field. It opens pre-filled with the current name, and allows a maximum of 64 characters.
  6. Select Save.
  7. A confirmation appears reading TwiML app renamed successfully, the dialog closes, and the page title updates to the new name.

Additional Information

The name must be 64 characters or fewer and cannot be Voice in Frontline, which is reserved.

Select Cancel in the dialog to close it without renaming the app.

A reserved application cannot be renamed. On one of those, the page shows a Reserved application notice and offers no Rename action.
