Product
Programmable Voice
Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
Your user must have permission to update Voice SIP domains on the account. Without it, the Edit emergency calling button is not shown.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Communications in the left sidebar.
- Select Voice, then SIP domains.
- Select the friendly name of the domain you want to change.
- In the Emergency calling section, select Edit emergency calling.
- In Edit emergency calling, select Enabled.
- Select an Emergency caller ID from the list of eligible phone numbers.
- Select Save.
- An Emergency calling updated confirmation appears and the section's status reads Enabled, along with the caller ID, phone number friendly name, and phone number country.
- To turn emergency calling off, reopen the panel, select Disabled, and select Save.
Additional Information
- Emergency calling starts Disabled, and the Emergency caller ID field stays unavailable until you select Enabled.
- The Emergency caller ID list contains only numbers on your account that are eligible for emergency calling. If it is empty, register an emergency address on a phone number first.
- Emergency addresses are registered per phone number from the numbers pages, not here.
- When an emergency call is made, Twilio ignores your call handling configuration and routes the call directly to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point.
- Select Cancel to close the panel without saving; the previous status is kept.
