How do I request a new Interconnect connection?

Objective

This article shows you how to choose an Interconnect connection type and submit a request for it. Twilio provisions Interconnect connections for you, so the Console flow gathers the connection type and a name and then hands the request over for processing.

Product

Twilio Interconnect

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Builder tools in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Interconnect, then Connections.
  3. Select Add new connection.
  4. Compare the available options and select the request button on the card that fits your network:
  5. VPN, Request VPN, to establish a virtual site-to-site route-based or policy-based IPsec connection to Twilio.
  6. Third Party Exchange, Request Third Party Exchange, to set up a private connection through a third party provider such as Equinix Fabric or Megaport.
  7. Cross Connect/BYO MPLS, Request Cross Connect, to set up a dedicated, physical fiber interconnection with Twilio.
  8. In Connection name, enter a unique name for the connection across your accounts.
  9. Select Continue. Twilio creates the request and opens it so you can finish configuring the connection.

Additional Information

  • The connection name is required and can be up to 127 characters. It must be unique across your accounts; a duplicate name is rejected with an explanation.
  • VPN and Third Party Exchange requests take up to 5 business days to process. Cross Connect requests take up to 5 business days to process the Letter of Authorization (LOA), plus 5 business days to configure the connection once the Equinix confirmation order has been received.
  • For a Third Party Exchange, submit your request through the third party exchange portal before submitting it here, to avoid delays in provisioning.
  • The request buttons are unavailable while your account is on a trial or is suspended. Upgrade or restore the account first.
  • Twilio strongly recommends setting up a second connection to another Twilio Edge Location so your traffic can fail over during maintenance windows and outages.
