How do I clone an existing API key?

Objective

This article helps you create a new API key that starts from the settings of a key you already have, so you do not have to re-select the same permissions by hand.

Product

Twilio Console

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

An account role that allows you to create API keys. Without it, the Clone this key action appears but is disabled.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Builder tools in the left sidebar.
  2. Select API Key & creds, then API Keys & auth tokens.
  3. On the API keys tab, find the key you want to copy and select Clone this key.
  4. The create form opens pre-filled from that key. Adjust the name, key type, and permissions as needed.
  5. Select Next, copy the new SID and Client secret, confirm that you have saved them, then select Finish.

Additional Information

  • Cloning creates a brand new key with its own secret; the original key is unchanged.
  • To leave without creating a key, select Cancel and then Close without saving.
