How do I enable HIPAA for my account?

Objective

This article helps you turn HIPAA enablement on or off for your Twilio account, and explains what to do if the setting is not available to you yet.

Product

Twilio Console

Environment

Twilio Console

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Settings in the left sidebar.
  2. Under Account settings, select Account details & security.
  3. Select the Security tab.
  4. Find the HIPAA enablement section.
  5. Select Enable HIPAA for this account or Disable HIPAA for this account.
  6. Select Save.
  7. A confirmation appears: "HIPAA settings updated successfully."

Additional Information

  • The setting is only available on accounts entitled to HIPAA. If yours is not, the section shows a Purchase a Twilio edition action and a Learn more about HIPAA and Twilio link instead of the controls.
  • If the settings cannot be loaded, the page reports that it was unable to load the account details, reload the page and try again.
