Objective
This article helps you register an OAuth application that uses the authorization code grant, so your users can sign in with their Twilio account and grant your application access to theirs.
Product
Twilio Console
Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
An account role that allows you to create OAuth applications.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Settings in the left sidebar.
- Under Account settings, select OAuth applications.
- Select Create an OAuth app. The wizard opens on the Application details step.
- Open the grant type selector and choose Authorization code.
- Choose a client type: Confidential for an application that can keep a secret on a server, or Public for one that cannot, such as a mobile or single-page app. Confidential is selected by default.
- Enter an Application name, and optionally an Application description.
- Enter the Company name.
- Enter one or more Redirect URLs that Twilio may return your users to after they approve access.
- Optionally attach a logo image for your application.
- Select Next to move to the Access settings step.
- Set the token expiration using Days, Hours, and Minutes, then select at least one permission under Select OAuth Scopes.
- Select Next. The Credentials step appears.
- Copy the credentials shown. A confidential client receives a Client ID and a client secret; a public client receives a Client ID and the authorization URL, and no secret.
- Select the acknowledgement checkbox, then select Finish. You are returned to the OAuth applications list.
Additional Information
- Every redirect URL must be a valid URL. Invalid entries are rejected with "One or more Redirect URLs are not valid. Please check and try again."
- The client secret is shown only on the Credentials step, and Finish stays blocked until you confirm you have saved your credentials.
- Token expiration must be between 1 minute and 30 days.
- The client type choice only appears for the authorization code grant type.
- If the logo upload cannot be prepared, the wizard reports "Failed to upload image. Please try again." and keeps you on the Access settings step so nothing is created.
