How do I add a public key to my account?

Objective

This article helps you upload a public key to your Twilio account so it can be used for public key client validation.

Product

Twilio Console

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

An account role that allows you to create public keys.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Settings in the left sidebar.
  2. Under Account settings, select Public keys.
  3. Confirm you are in the region where the key should live, using the region switcher if needed.
  4. Select Create public key.
  5. In the Create a new public key panel, enter a Friendly name.
  6. Paste your key into the Public key field, including the -----BEGIN PUBLIC KEY----- and -----END PUBLIC KEY----- lines.
  7. Select Create.
  8. A confirmation appears: "Public key created successfully."

Additional Information

  • Both fields are required. Submitting an empty form reports "Friendly name is required" and "Public key is required".
  • The key must be in PEM format. A value that does not start with the expected header is rejected with "Public key must start with -----BEGIN PUBLIC KEY-----".
  • Extra indentation in the pasted key is tidied up automatically, so a key copied out of a file with leading spaces is still accepted.
  • Keys are stored per region. Add the key in each region where you need it.
