Objective
If a Twilio rule is close to what you need but not exact, you can use it as a starting point and adjust the logic before saving it as your own. This article shows you how.
Product
Fraud Risk Engine
Environment
Twilio Console
User Account Permission/Role(s) Required
Your user needs permission to create Fraud Risk Engine rules. Without it, Twilio reports an authorization error instead of saving the rule.
Procedure
- In the Twilio Console, select Identity & security in the left sidebar.
- Select Fraud Risk Engine, then Rule Management.
- Select Add rules.
- In How would you like to build your rule?, choose Start from a rule template and select Get started.
- On the Choose event type step, pick the end user event this rule protects, then select Next.
- On the Select a rule step, choose one template from the list. Select a template name first if you want to read its details. Then select Next.
- On the Rule configuration & Confirmation step, fine-tune the copy of the template:
- Adjust the Rule name, it is prefilled from the template with a suffix marking it as a custom copy.
- Adjust Event Type, Custom Type ID if the custom event type is included, and Description.
- Adjust the Conditions, the Confidence Score, and the decision under Actions / Outcomes.
- Select Add rule. The rule is saved as your own custom rule and appears on the Rules Management table.
Additional Information
- This method creates a new custom rule. The Twilio template it came from is unchanged and is not added to your account.
- You can only select one template with this method. Twilio reports Select a rule template to continue. if you try to advance without choosing one.
- If no templates exist for the event type you picked, the list is empty, choose a different event type.
- Rule name must start with a letter and use only letters, numbers, or underscores.
- You can also start this from an existing Twilio rule in your list.
