How do I add Twilio-managed rules to my account?

Objective

Twilio maintains a set of predefined rules built on its own data intelligence, so you don't have to write detection logic from scratch. This article shows you how to pick an event type and add one or more of those rules to your account.

Product

Fraud Risk Engine

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your user needs permission to create Fraud Risk Engine rules. Without it, Twilio reports You do not have permission to create rules instead of adding the rule.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Identity & security in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Fraud Risk Engine, then Rule Management.
  3. Select Add rules.
  4. In How would you like to build your rule?, choose Choose predefined Twilio rules, the recommended option, and select Get started.
  5. On the Choose event type step, pick the end user event this rule set protects, then select Next.
  6. On the Select rules step, review the templates available for that event type. Each row shows the rule name and description, its Intelligence Source, and the Decision it returns. Select a rule name to read it in detail.
  7. Select the checkbox for each rule you want, then select Add rules.
  8. The rules are added to your account and appear on the Rules Management table.

Additional Information

  • You must choose an event type before templates load. Until you do, the table shows Choose an event type before selecting templates.
  • If no templates exist for the event type you picked, the table shows No templates are available for this event type yet, choose a different event.
  • You must select at least one rule to finish. Twilio reports Select at least one rule template to continue. if you try to complete the wizard with nothing selected.
  • If a rule you select is already on your account for another event type, Twilio extends the existing rule to cover the new event rather than creating a duplicate.
  • Rules added this way are managed by Twilio. To change one, clone it first.
  • The two other creation methods are Start from a rule template and Create rule from scratch.
