How do I get started with Conversation Memory?

Objective

This article helps you set up Conversation Memory for the first time so that Twilio can start building customer profiles from your conversations. Setting up your first memory store is the starting point for everything else in Conversation Memory: customer profiles, traits, identifiers, and data sources.

Product

Conversation Memory

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your role must allow creating Conversation Memory memory stores. Without it, the setup step is blocked.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Data in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Conversation Memory, then Overview.
  3. Review the Get more out of every customer interaction introduction on the Conversation Memory landing page.
  4. Select Get started.
  5. Conversation Memory creates your first memory store and opens it on the Customer profiles tab, with a Welcome to your first memory store panel guiding you through the remaining setup.

Additional Information

  • Once you have at least one memory store, the Overview page changes: instead of the introduction, it shows a View all memory stores button that takes you to the Memory stores list.
  • The first store is created with a generated name. You can rename it at any time from the store's Settings tab.
  • You can dismiss the welcome panel on the store once you no longer need it.
