How do I browse and add rules from the Twilio templates library?

Objective

The Twilio templates library is the full catalog of rules Twilio maintains, including which ones your account has already adopted. This article shows you how to browse it, read a template, and add one to your rule set.

Product

Fraud Risk Engine

Environment

Twilio Console

User Account Permission/Role(s) Required

Your user needs permission to create Fraud Risk Engine rules. Without it, Twilio reports You do not have permission to create rules instead of adding the rule.

Procedure

  1. In the Twilio Console, select Identity & security in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Fraud Risk Engine, then Rule Management.
  3. Select Explore Twilio templates library.
  4. On the Twilio templates page, review the table. Each row shows the template's Rule name & Description, its Intelligence source, the Decision it returns, and a Status telling you whether you have already added it.
  5. Narrow the list with Search rules, or with the Intelligence source, Decision, and Status filters.
  6. To read a template in full, open its actions menu and select View.
  7. To add one, open its actions menu and select Add.
  8. In the Add Rule from Template panel, choose the Event Types the rule should apply to and the Categories it belongs to. If you include the custom event type, also enter a Custom Type ID.
  9. Select Add Rule. Twilio confirms with Rule created successfully from template and the template's Status changes to reflect that you have adopted it.
  10. Select Back to Rules Management to return to your own rule list.

Additional Information

  • Status on this page describes your adoption of the template, not a property of the template, the options are Active, Deactivated, and Not added.
  • Event Types and Categories are both required. Twilio reports Event Types are required or Categories are required if either is empty.
  • If you already have a rule from this template, Twilio reports Rule already exists rather than creating a duplicate.
  • If nothing matches your filters, the table shows No templates match your filters. When no templates are available at all, it shows No Rule Templates Available.
  • To add several templates for one event type in a single pass, use Add rules on the Rules Management page instead.
